Cremations

In the ceremony of a Cremations funeral, the departed individual’s body undergoes a dignified cremation process at a crematorium.

Subsequently, families are empowered to choose how to handle the ashes, aligning with the wishes of the deceased.

The funeral service itself can be held either at a conventional crematorium or at a venue selected by the family, which might deviate from traditional norms.

Conversely, opting for a direct cremation provides a more straightforward approach, bypassing formal services or attendance altogether.

How does a cremation funeral work?

Cremations funerals have surpassed traditional burials in popularity in the UK. Unlike burials, cremations services offer the flexibility to choose any crematorium for the ceremony, not just the nearest one.

Each crematorium features a chapel, serving as a venue for both religious and non-religious ceremonies. Inside, you’ll find a raised platform called a catafalque for the coffin and rows of seating. A lectern is placed at the front for speakers or officiants.

The duration of the service varies based on the crematorium’s policies, ranging from 20 to 40 minutes. If needed, you can extend the service by booking a double slot for an extra fee.

After the service, attendees often gather on the flower terrace to view floral tributes for about 10 to 15 minutes before heading to the funeral reception.
